Just under two years ago I embarked on a mission aimed at bringing more awareness around the subject of child abuse (in all it’s many and terrifying forms).
The result was ‘Be Heard’ a short film that was written, directed, produced, crewed and acted in by survivors of abuse and those affected by it. The production of the film offered many survivors the opportunity to work under the mentorship of a hugely talented and generous professional crew, all of whom gave their skills and experience for free.
Shot over two days and funded entirely on donations to our crowd funding campaign, the experience offered survivors the opportunity to create, express and ‘Be Heard’ in a safe environment and hopefully give them an entry point into a notoriously difficult industry to crack.
And now, after LOTS of hard work by a great many, I’m absolutely delighted to announce that the film has been finished and we will be screening for cast, crew, friends and supporters on the evening of Thursday 4th February 2016 @ 6.15pm in the Princess Anne Theatre at BAFTA in Central London. Followed by drinks in the bar afterwards.
Please come along and do bring a friend or three!
We are going to charge a very small fee (£5) to cover the cost of hiring the venue – and though BAFTA are being very kind to us, it’s still an expense that we will need your help to cover.
Date: Thu 4th Feb 2016 @ 6.15pm*
Venue: BAFTA 195 Picadilly
Tickets: £5 plus booking fee
For those of you feeling more flush, we have also set up a donate button below.
This extra funding will help fill the gap between the money we raise from tickets and the cost of hiring BAFTA.
Please join us for what will be a fabulous night of celebrating the great efforts and huge bravery of a committed group of filmmakers and supporters who clubbed together in order that survivors of abuse can have a voice and have that voice ‘Be Heard’.
Thank you and hope to see you there!
Judy and Cathy
PS: * There is a small chance that the date may change as we’re booking BAFTA at their last minute rate. While we are at 99% confirmed now, we can only confirm 100% when we are two weeks before. All ticket holders will be informed in good time in the event of a date change and refunds will be available if you are unable to attend on the new date.
