David began his career in the early 90s working as an assistant and researcher for film-maker Derek Jarman on films such as Wittgenstein and Blue.

In more recent years, David studied film-making at the Metropolitan Film School. His first job on leaving film school was as a runner on the independent movie French Film. He was swiftly snapped up by BBC Wales, where he worked in script development and trained as a script editor on their hit science fiction shows Doctor Who and Torchwood.

He then moved into the Continuing Drama department, making programmes such as EastEnders, Casualty, Holby City and Doctors. During his time in the department, he rose through the ranks from script editor to producer. He was then invited to run the prestigious Writers Academy course for John Yorke, where he trained and mentored up-and-coming writers.
