Kat grew up in Yarm, a quiet town in the North East of England, and is a former BBC broadcast journalist. As a feature film screenwriter, Kat is one of the most prolific and consistent creators of original genre material working in Hollywood, having sold a feature every year for the last four years. FUEL, starring Jurnee Smollett and produced by Misha Green and Amazon Studios, is her fifth sale.
Her sci-fi script, ENVOY, sold to Amy Pascal’s Pascal Pictures/Sony in 2017, followed up by a sci-fi pitch, GENUS, to Pascal Pictures again in a competitive bidding situation the following year. Skydance Media bought her action short story and pitch, DIPLOMATIC COURIER, in the spring of 2019. In fall 2020 she sold her Blacklist script, RUBY, to 87 North and Amazon Studios.
Kat has written and directed two short films. HOME stars Golden Globe winner Maggie Gyllenhaal and was produced by Academy Award nominated producer Dana Brunetti. The film has over 1.2 million views on YouTube. Kat’s second short film, STINE, was funded by Creative England and stars Tuppence Middleton. Kat’s first feature as director, a contained thriller called ZERO, is currently set up with Thunder Road.
Kat is a Screen International Star of Tomorrow 2017 and a John Brabourne Awardee. She is represented by Verve.
