Matt is an award-winning genre scriptwriter and a graduate of the LSF Talent Campus programme.
He created and co-wrote the dark comedy Paul Dood’s Deadly Lunch Break (2021), starring a wealth of UK comedy talent including Tom Meeten, Katherine Parkinson, Kris Marshall, Johnny Vegas, Alice Lowe, Mandeep Dhillon, Steve Oram and Craig Parkinson. It won the Screenwriters’ Award at South by Southwest and seven awards – including Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Comedy – at Toronto After Dark.
Matt co-wrote a 2014 feature that he doesn’t like to talk about, and he’s also written a number of produced shorts and published short stories. His latest work, The Sin-Eater, is a spooky Welsh gothic short film made with BFI Network funding and currently on the festival circuit.
Matt taught screenwriting at Salford University for five years; he was a member of the 2022/3 BIFA Springboard programme, and he’s won a number of pitching competitions, including at the London Screenwriters’ Festival 2020 and Sundance London 2023.
