Pitching and Writing for the Big Players in LA (April 16th 2020)

Pitching and Writing for the Big Players in LA (April 16th 2020) image

Make no mistake, every year, hundreds of British and European screenwriters get repped in LA. Without ANY doubt, it’s the biggest and most dynamic market on Earth. Any writer who wants to write commercially leaning film or TV would be crazy to ignore the opportunities in LA.

And unlike most other places, getting the meeting is not actually the hardest thing to do.

Everyone wants to ‘discover’ the hot new talent or project.

BUT… You need face-to-face time to be ‘discovered’. It’s near impossible for this to happen via the phone or email. You need to visit and be ‘seen’. But don’t panic, most Brit writers can make massive headway in one visit.

When: April 16th
Where: Regents University, Regents Park
How much £48.50

This one-day course will detail everything from getting there; setting up meetings; pitching in the more LA style; maintaining relationships; building your personal brand (what people know you for); clarifying your projects to align with branding; finding representation from agents, managers and lawyers; general meetings and how to perform; follow ups; the culture; the community…

Joey has helped nearly 100 unknown and unproduced writers get representation in LA over the last two years. He has his finger on the pulse of what ‘the town’ is looking for, and in this one-day workshop he will guide you through how breaking into the business on this side of the Atlantic works.

Get this inside knowledge from one of the industry’s top voices helping unsigned writers bridge the gap.

Feedback from the last event we ran with Joey…

‘It was an epic weekend, with so much useful information. My to-do list is packed – happily getting to it!’
Shari, Screenwriter, all the way from… Arizona!

‘Spending the two days with Joey was revelatory and inspiring.’

Monique Amado, Screenwriter

Before this masterclass I was very much of the belief that the LA film market wasn’t for me, and that local indie film was my surest way into the industry. All that changed after two days with Joey Tuccio. Prepare for a load of knowledge, truth bombs, and laughs (so many laughs), and it’ll take a bit of willpower not to book a bloody plane ticket to LAX the second you get away!
James Allen, Screenwriter

‘The Screenwriters Roadmap weekend was fantastically useful, both in terms learning how to best sell my work to the industry and just  spending time in such a supportive environment — I actually couldn’t wait to get writing again!’
Jaskaran Bahia, Screenwriter

‘I’ve known Joey for a number of years now and have always admired his ability to recognize talent, and help young screenwriters he believes in gain the tools they need to take their careers to the next level.’
Sean Berard, Agent, APA

‘There aren’t many people in this industry who can manage being attentive, generous, and thoughtful all at the same time. Joey is one of those people. Always a source of constant enthusiasm and kindness, he is also one of the smartest people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. His knowledge on what it takes to craft a story, his ability to work with writers and provide them with the necessary stepping stones to further their career, and his overall positive demeanor make him an amazing person to work with and I look forward to it every time.’
Dan Ingram, Head of Story Development, De Laurentiis Company

‘Joey is incredible. He speaks truth, honesty and he genuinely seems to care about nurturing writers.’
Mark Renshaw, Screenwriter

‘Joey is inspiring and hilarious, he tells it like it is.’

‘Joey Tucci was my favourite speaker. Electric, funny and his insights into pitching and meetings were inspiring and shook the dust off some of the rules that get over-emphasised. Be bold. Stand out!’
David Laurie, Screenwriter

‘Joey Tuccio was the best speaker I’ve seen in my years of LSF. He covered everything from writing style and helpful tips all the way through how to best approach the pitching and post-pitching process. Someone with lots of hands on practical experience in LA and very up to date with his knowledge. VERY inspirational and a powerhouse of energy. Get him back!’
Jane, Screenwriter

‘I really loved Joey. New take, no bullshit industry advice and a reminder that writers need to use their voice and make it unabashedly stronger. He was wonderfully practical and not too overly-intellectual. Did not know much about Roadmap till I saw his first 10 pages session. Happily surprised!’
Thesy Surface, Screenwriter

‘For me, Joey Tuccio was a breath of fresh air and explained how you can maintain a good relationship that can lead to a commission.’
