Ellin teaches screenwriting in the MA Scriptwriting program at Goldsmiths and has analyzed scripts for companies including Miramax, New Line, Zoetrope, DNA Films and Tiger Aspect, as well as working with individual clients through script consultancy Solid Script Services.
Her own work has won awards from the American Film Institute and festivals in Toronto, Chicago, and Hiroshima. She also co-created five musicals that were produced in New York and San Francisco.
As a journalist, Ellin has written on films, the film industry, and scriptwriting (and indeed the LSF) for publications including The Times, The Telegraph, The Arts Desk, Slate, and American Film, and is the author of the cultural history That’s Not Funny, That’s Sick: The National Lampoon and the Cultural Insurgents Who Captured the Mainstream (which gave her the chance to interview the likes of Harold Ramis and Lorne Michaels).
She has also been a contributing writer for Radio 4’s The News Quiz and performed on The Gong Show.
