I grew up in the shadow of the cold war. Cinematically I love the era, the late sixties. I even visited Check Point Charlie in Berlin two years before the wall came down, visited the East for a day, and recall how very very strange it all was.
I am beyond excited that screenwriter Matt Charman has agreed to come and the Script to Screen with us at LSF Accelerate, our mini London Screenwriters’ Festival in November. To get in the mood, I thought I would share this interview with director Stephen Spielberg and Martin Scorsese about the film.
There is so much to admire about the film, the confidence of the direction, the staggeringly awesome understated performance of Mark Rylance, Tom Hanks cos you know, he’s Tom Hanks… and of course the story and screenplay. So much to love. So much to unpack on stage with Matt. Brilliant and cannot wait!
Sit back and enjoy the conversation between two masters.
