London Screenwriters' Festival 2017 Launch Event (June 14th)

with Ken Loach

London Screenwriters

On June 14th, the London Screenwriters’ Festival will host Ken Loach for an extraordinary conversation about screenwriting, filmmaking and of course, the future of our country post the 2017 General Election.

Join us for the 2017 LondonSWF official launch event.

Prolific. Uncompromising. And above all, a seeker of challenging and difficult truths as told thorough the lens of profoundly human stories.

Join us for a conversation with one of the most outstanding British filmmakers working today.

When: June 14th, 6:30 doors open, 7:30 talk
Where: Regents University, Inner Circle, Regents Park, London
How much: £9

His filmography is extraordinary and includes ‘Kes’, ‘Cathy Come Home’,  ‘Riff-Raff’, ‘Hidden Agenda’, ‘Raining Stones’, ‘Carla’s Song’, ‘My Name Is Joe’, ‘The Wind That Shakes the Barley’, ‘The Angels’ Share’, ‘Jimmy’s Hall’…

There is no doubt, Ken Loach is a national treasure, even if he would himself disagree (he turned down his OBE when offered).

And with a general election having just closed, what an extraordinary time to listen to a filmmaker whose body of work is genuinely unparalleled in the way that it reflects the lives of people in the UK.

You can expect an uncompromising conversation that will inspire, challenge, and cause you to reach further to find the truth in your writing.

Last year Ken won his second Palme D’Or in Cannes for ‘I Daniel Blake’ which he also picked up the BAFTA for earlier this year. It’s a tough watch and yet it also feels so honest and enraging.

Tickets for this event are just £9.

And if you fancy it, dress up too!

Aside from a terrific talk from Ken, there will be ample time for drinks and networking, and also the chance to get your photo taken on the red carpet – we will share the professional photos we take (if you want ones) with you so that you can share them on your own social media channels.

When: June 14th, 6:30 doors open, 7:30 talk
Where: Regents University, Inner Circle, Regents Park, London
How much: £9

About last year… on June 8th, Julian Fellowes spoke at the launch. You can watch the video below.

Julian shared candidly, firing out hard won screenwriting lessons like a machine gun. Our personal favourite was when he was asked ‘How do you deal with writers block?’ and he answered ‘I don’t have time for writers block’. Hilarious and inspiring.
